Restaurante Naia – Arrecife

The Restaurant Naia – Arrecife, hidden between the many popular bars and restaurants at the Charco de San Ginés, is a real gourmet tip. The Basque chef Mikel Otaegui has created a special place, which has already attracted the attention of the Michelin gourmet guide.

Restaurante Naia is located on the Charco de San Ginés in Arrecife

Close to the cinema Atlántida, half hidden between pizza places and cocktail bars, you can find the restaurant Naia – Mikel Otaegui. For some years now it has established itself with modern and innovative dishes. In 2018, the gastronomic offer even achieved a special mention in the Michelin restaurant guide.

The restaurant staff assigns the guests to a table and brings the handwritten menu of the day. In addition to the listed dishes, there are always fresh dishes, which the waiters will present extensively and explain if requested. Prices would be helpful here, but as in so many restaurants, they are only available on request.

The composition of the dishes shows the modern orientation of the restaurant. Some dishes like the risotto with mushrooms, asparagus and foie or the salmon teriyaki are always on the menu. Other dishes change according to the season. The daily specials include both fresh meat and fish dishes to choose from.

You can either sit on the small outdoor terrace directly at the Charco, or at one of the six tables in the interior, which is wide open to the street. The decor is deliberately kept simple, and when you look into the kitchen you can see that it is “on air”.

On our last visit we had, among other things, tuna tataki with seaweed on sweet potato puree, artichoke confit, tortilla with truffle and portobello mushrooms and the mushroom and asparagus risotto. As always, all dishes were delicious, but the size shows that you are dining in a special restaurant. Less seems to be more here, so if in doubt, it is advisable to order one more dish, which also enhances the taste experience. It is also worth trying one of the very tasty desserts.

Dinner at the Charco

The Charco de San Ginés has long established itself as the nightlife district of the capital of Lanzarote. There is a lot going on here, especially at the weekend, and there is a large selection of very different restaurants and bars. In the Naia Arrecife you sit directly on the Avenida César Manrique, which leads around the Charco. After dinner it is worth taking a stroll around the Charco.

In terms of prices, the Restaurante Naia Arrecife belongs clearly to the upper range for island standards, but the quality is very good. The many years of success and the almost always well-occupied tables show that the upscale culinary concept works. We can definitely recommend a visit for a special occasion. The Restaurante Naia also gets very good ratings on the well-known platforms.
