First, it’s off to the island’s volcanic region, where you’ll visit the following attractions:

  • The Timanfaya National Park
  • The dromedar station near the fire mountains
  • The wine region La Geria

The Timanfaya National Park is one of the absolute highlights in Lanzarote. Under no circumstances should you leave the island without seeing this unique volcanic area. First you drive 40 minutes by bus through the unique lunar landscape and hear about the volcanic eruptions in the years 1730 to 1736 that changed the face of the island forever. After the tour through the National Park of the volcanoes you experience in various geothermal presentations the existing heat, that can still be found below the surface of the earth.

Timanfaya Nationalpark
The Lanzarote fire mountains

Dry brushwood begins to burn and fountains of water explode above their heads. Over the natural volcanic grill – a simple hole in the ground – meals are prepared for the nearby restaurant.

At the Dromedar station in the volcano park you have the opportunity to ride for 15 minutes on one of these strange creatures through the lava landscape. This part of the excursion is optional and costs an additional €11 per person. Those who don’t want to ride a dromedar have time to stretch their legs and take a look at the unique landscape of the volcano park.

Wein in La Geria
Wine in La Geria

La Geria is the area in Lanzarote where wine is cultivated. It doesn’t sound spectacular, but wait until you see the work that the island’s agricultural workers had to do to harvest grapes from the volcanic landscape. Each grapevine is anchored deep in the ground, covered with lava ash and walls made of natural stones protect it from the Passat winds.

So over many years and hard work a landscape has been created that combines nature and viticulture in a beautiful shape. When you visit the winery, you will learn a lot about wine growing and you can even try the delicious island wine.

around 2 p.m.: lunch break in Yaiza

You can book lunch (buffet) for 10€ with the tour guide of your Lanzarote South Tour. If you don’t want to take lunch, you can use the lunch break to cater for yourself and see the very picturesque town of Yaiza.

between 3 and 6 p.m.

After lunch, we head to the volcanic west coast of the island. You visit:

  • El Golfo
El Golfo
The Charco de los Clicos

There is a volcanic crater near the village of El Golfo, which one half has broken into the sea. Through a connection to the sea, the former crater has filled with water and a special algae species gives the water a bright green colour. The unreal crater lake is called Charco de los Clicos and on its bank you can find the volcanic semi-precious stone olivine.

After visiting the west coast of Lanzarote, we will bring you back to the starting point of your excursion. The South Tour Lanzarote will surely leave lasting memories.
