In this small overview we present you the best beaches in Lanzarote – in our humble opinion.

As with all of our top lists, the selection is completely subjective and based on our own personal preferences.

1: Papagayo beaches

The bays in the south of Lanzarote are rightly considered the most beautiful beaches on the island. Everyone finds their favorite spot in the small bays and you can sunbathe, swim or snorkel. Since the Papagayo beaches are in the nature reserve, they also offer an absolutely natural environment without umbrella rental or ice cream vendors.

2: Famara beach

The surfer beach in the west of the island offers an absolutly amazing landscape. Unfortunately the wind makes the beach a little uncomfortable for many months of the year. But if you have the luck to be on a perfect day without wind here, you can’t ask for much more. However, this beach is not recommended for swimmers. Dangerous currents ensure that the red flags always dominate the beach.

3: Playa Grande in Puerto del Carmen

At Playa Grande you will find a 1.5 km long sandy beach with ideal conditions for a long day on the beach with the family. There are sun loungers, parasols, pedal boats, showers and public toilets. And due to the proximity to Avenida de las Playas, you can also get something to eat or drink at any time.

4: Caletón Blanco

Straight up in the north of the island – just before the town of Orzola – lies the Caletón Blanco, a beautiful beach that is particularly popular with locals. Due to the ebb and flow of tides, new conditions arise and children find great opportunities to play.

5: Playa de las Cucharas

The meeting place for windsurfers in Lanzarote. In this bay in the tourist town of Costa Teguise, families lie next to surfers and everyone enjoys the day. There is a lot of infrastructure and restaurants nearby.
