Enjoying away from mass-tourism
If you leave the three big touristy centres of the island it is very easy possible to discover the original Lanzarote, small villages with idyllic tranquillity and a special beauty and atmosphere. One of these nice places is Playa Quemada and with the Restaurant Salmarina you find there also a perfect place to enjoy this idyll.
Although the restaurant opened only some months ago, for the great experience in gastronomy and for its perfect situation right by the sea it is one of the best directions in the village. Owner José Reyes formed an exquisite team of people, formed from the staff of other popular restaurants of the island as La Era, Casa Roja or La Mesana. In the kitchen as well as in the treatment of the guests you find the hospitality and tradition of the island.
Among residents the black beach of the village is a well guided place for a quiet and lazy day on the beach and often a perfect day finds his end in the Salmarina. Open during the whole day you can relax on the big terrace and enjoy the great views of the sea and the Ajaches Mountains. The decoration with traditional fisherman stuff of the island creates a nice ambient and you notice, that it is important for the owners to continue in their restaurant with the special flair of Playa Quemada.
In Salmarina you will find typical dishes from the island, fresh salads and other traditional plates, prepared fresh and tastefully. Starters as the homemade croquettes, stuffed paprika, papas arrugadas with Mojo or fresh goat cheese open the appetite for the second plates, fresh fish, sea fruits and mussels, Paella, chickpeas, rabbit or one if the delicious island goulash. And after the main course homemade traditional desserts as flan with caramel, milk-rice or cheese-cake tempt to try them.
The main attractions of Playa Quemada are for sure the quiet and isolated beach, the great views and the typical cuisine of the restaurant Salmarina. Here you can enjoy Lanzarote from its best side, away from mass-tourism.
